INDEPENDENT EDGE FILMS INC. was launched in 2006 as a leading independent production company focused on the development, financing, and production of feature length films. The company is owned and operated by Kyle Mann, a Vancouver-based producer with 10 years of feature film experience in Hollywood and Canada.
KYLE MANN graduated with a law degree from the University of British Columbia in 2000. In 2001, Mann joined Infinity Media’s Los Angeles’s office as a production assistant before moving into business affairs and development. Mann worked on such films as Saved! (MGM) starring Jena Malone and Mandy Moore, Just Friends (New Line) starring Ryan Reynolds, Anna Faris, and Amy Smart, and Rob Zombie’s The Devil’s Rejects (Lionsgate). In 2005, Kyle Mann transitioned into production by becoming an independent producer.
Mann was an associate producer on the critically and financially acclaimed Capote (Sony Classics) which in 2006 was nominated for five Oscars and received the Best Actor Award for Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s masterful performance. In 2006, he co-produced the romantic comedy Blue State (MGM), starring Anna Paquin (True Blood) and Breckin Meyer (Garfield), which screened at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Mann was a co-producer on Push (Summit Entertainment), a sci-fi thriller directed by Paul McGuigan (Gangster No. 1, Lucky Number Slevin) and starring Chris Evans (Fantastic Four, Captain America), Dakota Fanning (The Runaways, Twilight), Camilla Belle (10,000 BC, Ballad of Jack and Rose), and Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond, Gladiator) which went into wide release.
Mann recently developed, financed, and produced the psychological thriller, Wrecked starring Adrien Brody (The Pianist, Predators) and Caroline Dhavernas (Off The Map) which was scripted by Christopher Dodd and helmed by Michael Greenspan. IFC Midnight and Alliance Films are the domestic distributors and EOne is handling worldwide sales. Telefilm Canada provided production financing. The film has sold in over 50 countries including Germany (Universum), France (BAC Films), UK (NBC Universal), Latin America (California), and Middle East (Shooting Stars). The film was released theatrically in April 2011.
Mann is currently producing the comedy, Teen Lust, which was written and will be helmed by Blaine Thurier (Gun to the Head) of the hit independent band The New Pornographers. EOne has bought Canadian and international sales rights.
Mann is currently developing the action adventure, Elephant Gun, which was written by Jason Stone (Jay and Seth vs. the Apocalypse). Telefilm has provided development funding.
Mann is producing and developing Jacob Green, a feature based on Joshua Braff’s novel The Unthinkable Thoughts of Jacob Green. The project was written by Christopher Dodd and will be helmed by Michael Greenspan.
